I'm still addicted to the new Animal Collective songs I've heard. Anywho, all the blogs are going crazy posting the new Art Brut video for "Direct Hit." Go find it if you're bored. I'm indifferent about it.
+ CSS Remixes
The Cribs-Men's Needs (CSS Remix)
I posted a few weeks ago about Tilly putting the CSS remix on their page. Well, here it is for download.Tilly and the Wall-The Freest Man (CSS Remix)
-Since I'm posting a Tilly remix, here's Hot Chip's remix of Sing Songs Along
Tilly and the Wall-Sing Songs Along (Hot Chip Remix)
-And since I'm posting a Hot Chip remix I was going to add a remix of Lo-Fi-Fnk's "Steppin Out," but it's over 10 minutes long and I'm not crazy about it.
+ All of Simian Mobile Disco's debut album, Attack Decay Sustain Release, is pretty much awesome. They're usually the ones doing the remixes, so here's a remix by the incredible Switch of "I Believe."
Simian Mobile Disco-I Believe (Switch Remix)
+ It's always nice to listen to Stars. What? No, not the ones in space. har. har...

What am I Looking at Thursday
Let me start off by saying I don't think I saw one blog that didn't post the new song "Tbtf" by Kevin Drew, aka frontman of Broken Social Scene. I'm not going to even bother posting it because you can find it anywhere as of the beginning of this past week. Plus, I'm not ~amazed~ or anything by it, though it's quite good.
Anywho, Beirut news from the Pitch Perfect PR press release:
The new record (yet to be titled) will be released on October 9th on Ba Da Bing!, and features a notable shift in sound from Gulag. With song titles like Nantes and Cherbourg, the record is more a love letter to French culture. Featuring thirteen tracks in all, this new album continues on the trajectory that began with the Lon Gisland EP, where the entire eight member band plays along on the recordings. Besides the eight member orkestar and guests, Owen Pallett of Final Fantasy adds lush string arrangements to the songs, as well as guest vocals on a track entitled Cliquot.
The album was recorded in two separate sessions - at the A Hawk and a Hacksaw practice space, and at Arcade Fire's ornate studios outside of Montreal. To date, Gulag Orkestar has sold over 100,000 copies worldwide.
Beirut will be playing a limited number of North American shows this fall in theatrical venues. Colleen, whose new album Les Ondes Silencieuse is out this month on The Leaf Label, will open.
Beirut - untitled album tracklist:
0. A Call To Arms
1. Nantes
2. A Sunday Smile
3. Guyamas Sonora
4. La Banlieu
5. Cliquot
6. The Penalty
7. Forks and Knives(La FĂȘte)
8. In The Mausoleum
9. Un Dernier Verre (Pour la Route)
10. Cherbourg
11. St. Apollonia
12. The Flying Club Cup
So if that's not enough to make you smile, I really don't know how to make you people happy. Here, maybe this will help. It's off their two song EP, Pompeii.
+ Beirut-Fountains and Tramways
+ My good friend Rachel G. pointed this out to me. Take a listen to Battles-Rainbow and tell me the beginning does not sound just like Arcade Fire's song "Neon Bible."
+ Three songs off of Animal Collective's new album "Strawberry Jam" [Out September '07 on Domino] have leaked. I can't really decide which I like the best.
Animal Collective-Chores
Animal Collective-Peacebone
Animal Collective-Unsolved Mysteries
On a personal note, I just got a Samsung Blackjack. The keypad is a bit small but fortunately my thumbs are nimble. Yes, nimble.

What am I Looking at Monday
Disclaimer: Don't skim this if you know what's healthy. Otherwise I might have to give you a hurts, donut.
Does it make me a late bloomer if I've never heard of Pig Radio until right now? I've never been a big fan of anything that involves using iTunes beyond just listening to music. I guess this really isn't all that different, but it's pretty amazing. Basically a 24/7 radio station of nothing but good music. Quit drooling.
Grizzly Bear's "Knife" is arguably the best song on their delightful album Yellow House. Watch as Beirut covers the song while walking down the street. By now I don't expect anyone to be asking "Bei-what?" If you are, don't be fooled by "Postcards from Italy." Yes, it's incredible, but I'd advise a first listener to hear "Interior of a Dutch House." (Sorry, but I'm not nice enough to switch computers just to link your lazy ass to that song.)
Video for M.I.A's new single "Boyz."
Is it me or does anyone hear a small similarity between this and Spektrum's "Kinda New." I think it might just be me.
For all your Nylon/Paper Magazine/Flaunt/V-Magazine/etc. etc. readers who know who designer Jeremey Scott is, here is Part I of his short film "STARRING."
Part II here.
+ At the moment I'm on my family's computer, and I'm finding all of these songs I never realized I had/liked. Gameboy/Gamegirl-Sweaty Wet/Dirty Damp
+ Kitsune Maison compilations never go wrong. Their fourth one has been out for a little while now if you have been living under a rock that requires its residents to be slow in picking up on these things.Thieves Like Us' songs "Fass" and "Drugs in my Body" were both good enough for me that I forgot about this one. Thieves Like Us-Declarations
+ If not already, I'm sure everyone will be sick of any version of Justice's "D.A.N.C.E" by the end of the month/week/day, like we were by Klaxons' "Gravity's Rainbow." To help speed up this process here is yet another remix of the song. Eli & Diplo Mix-D.A.N.C.E.
All right, I've linked myself to death.
p.s. Tilly & the Wall just put up a mix of "The Freest Man" by CSS on their MySpace.

What am I Looking at Tuesday
It's probably just the fact that it's not in english that I like this commercial, but I do wish things like this would air instead of Sally Field telling me about Boniva.
I've seen two sites post the new The Dresden Doll's video for "Shores of California" so I figure I'd be a follower and do the same for those of you who haven't yet been bored by this video & song.
Style Arena recently posted their BEST OF 2007 (first half of the year). I'm a little underwhelmed by their choices. I recall seeing much better than these. Oh well, whadd'ya gon' do 'bout it?
+ I might go rollerskating tomorrow. Yeah, I know, my summer is outrageous. Instead of Sugar Ray, I wish they'd get a little "new, old school" with some Sally Shapiro or something. This would work well. Sally Shapiro-I'll Be By Your Side(Rude 66 808 Remix)
+ It took about a year for New Young Pony Club to actually get some attention. I remember hearing "Ice Cream" off "Get Lucky" in March of last year, giving it a fair share of listens, then getting re-hooked when it was used on that cell phone commercial. If the rest of their next album, "Fantastic Playroom," sounds anything like the two songs I've heard, I don't think I have to worry about getting "re-hooked." Don't believe me? Get bored! New Young Pony Club-Grey
Monday I wasn't looking at anything but lots and lots of chairs and balconies, so I don't imagine you need to be shown what those look like.

What am I Looking at Sunday.
Embedding is being an asshole, here is something unimportant and irrelevant but completely necessary because it's a rule that you like Chloe Sevigny if you use the Internet unhealthy amounts. Chloe on High-Waisted Jeans
+ Remixes never get old. Yes, the Boys Noize remix of this song is a lot better, but who doesn't love having more than one version of the same song. Feist-My Moon, My Man (Damage on the Backseat Remix)
+ I'd be lying if I said I liked non-remixed versions of any Best Fwends songs. Here's one I do like though. Best Fwends-M.Y.S.E.L.F. (Xxxchange Remix)
+ Because the television show based on Geico's cavemen will suck at life, here is the only thing remotely good about any of those commercials. Royksopp-Remind Me

What Am I Doing
Basically, I'm not going to talk about myself. Most people bore me so I figure if I used this as a continuation of my high school LiveJournal life, I wouldn't have anyone reading.
Here's how you can get to know me.
Things I check everyday:
Oh No They Didn't
MySpace
Seven New York
Brooklyn Vegan
Big Stereo
Yahoo! News
Style Arena
By now, I expect you to know everything about my 2-dimensional life. If on any of those sites or any other random site I notice something amazing, I'll probably directly link it.
